Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Title:
Tower computer using PS2 mouse causes total crash after install of
  upgrade.

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Info Bug app collected and sent is wrong...I installed a fresh copy of
Ubuntu 20.04 2 months ago not 900+ days ago. Full install. I had been
using 18.04 for years. Mobo is 6-7 year old ASUS mobo using AMD Quad
core CPU, I use the built in video chip. Mobo was just cleaned and re-
heat sink compound applied just a month ago so no dust or overheating
  issue.

What Happened: Saw there was an upgrade ready, shut down all running
apps and told it to install. Didn't pay attention but as it reached
the end of the install crashed.

Actual problem: During upgrade, screen went black. Went into a boot
loop. Unplugged my PS2 mouse (mobo has a built in port) and was able
to boot. Millions still use the PS2 mouse and Keyboard because of the
superior profile of the connector compared to a USB. During this
problem, moved to a USB mouse.

During testing: Shut off computer and reinstalled PS2 mouse. Booted.
Mouse WORKED at first burgundy screen. Stopped working at 2nd burgundy
screen. Then the bug SHUT OFF THE CPU!!! This is a very bad bug as
this is the kind of pathway hackers (especially teenagers) love to
exploit. Inexperienced and less than competent repair people would
generally change the entire mobo which would change the keyboard and
mouse most likely as few new mobos have the PS2 setup. And the
consumer would have been ripped off basically.

Crash is fatal...computer goes into a boot loop when there is a PS2
mouse installed. Did not test with a PS2 keyboard though. I have one
somewhere. Works fine if the mouse it replaced with a USB mouse. NOT a
  favored fix method.
