Public bug reported:

Description: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
Release: 18.04

mlocate:
  Installed: 0.26-2ubuntu3.1
  Candidate: 0.26-2ubuntu3.1
  Version table:
 *** 0.26-2ubuntu3.1 500
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I believe preventing it from traversing 9p filesystems is a simple
matter of adding "9p" to PRUNEFS in /etc/updatedb.conf.

** Affects: mlocate (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
