I don't think you read my bug report correctly.
My screenshot shows the result of me having manually created 1 BIOS GRUB
partition which gets listed as partition #2. partition #1 is another
BIOS GRUB partition that gets auto created by the instaler and is not
shown to the user.
I understand why this partition is required but it should be shown to
the user when they create custom partitioning configs. As it stands the
user must know about and work around this quirk.

Title:
Ubuntu server 20.04.2 installer hidden partition problem
Status in subiquity package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
The Ubuntu server 20.04.2 installer (ubiquity?) doesn't show all of
the partitions that will be created on the storage configuration page
for the first disk, specifically the GRUB BIOS boot partition.
To reproduce:
Boot Ubuntu Server 20.04.2 iso on a BIOS based x86-64 machine or VM
Choose custom storage layout
Format the first disk if necessary to remove existing partitions
Select the first disk -> Add GPT partition -> Create a 1 MB unformatted partition
Now, under the 'Available devices' section of the storage
configuration screen only 1 partition is listed on the first disk but
it is labelled as partition 2. This seems to be because the installer
will create another 1 MB GRUB BIOS boot partition before the first
partition that the user creates on the first disk but this partition
doesn't get shown in the installer.
The installer doesn't do this for additional disks, only the first
usable disk. Custom storage layout shouldn't be creating partitions
that are hidden or uneditable by the user.
