[Bug 1927160] [NEW] After updating to latest update-notifier-common, available updates no longer shown in motd

Public bug reported:

As the summary states, after updating to the latest available update-
notifier (or maybe update-notifier-common, not sure) and rebooting, the
'x updates can be installed imediately' and 'x of these updates are
security updates' lines are gone from the motd. The file 90-updates-
available is still present in /etc/update-motd.d/ and has not been
modified (as far as I know).

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
pdate-notifier-common version is 3.192.30.7

I expected to be shown that updates were (or weren't) ready to be installed on login in the MOTD
I was not shown this information, regardless of if updates were available or not.

** Affects: update-notifier (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
