  Software Updater ends with the message: Failed to download package
  files

Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When I run the update-manager it shows me a list of software I need to
  download to be up-to-date, but when I click Install and have typed my
  password I get the message: Failed to download package files check
  your internet connection. My internet connection is fine. I use it to
  file this bug report.

  I expected that the software would have been downloaded and installed.

  I see it as a security vulnerability as I cannot download security
  fixes.
