The live-build package in Ubuntu is used as part of the official Ubuntu
image build pipeline.  As such we do not regularly update it from Debian
because behavior changes in the tool are a risk to our release process
(with no particular benefit).

The project is also dead upstream.

This is a valid wishlist request, but unlike to be addressed any time
soon.

  Latest version (3.0~a57-1ubuntu) states that --debootstrap-options is
  unrecognized.

  Looks like this issue is fixed in 3.0~a67-1. See Debian changelog in
