There are still a lot of changes going on around the source packages,
and upgrading to a *pre-alpha* of 23.04 should not be expected to work.
The OS doesn't even release until April.

  I recently upgraded 2210 gnome to 2304 gnome; then removed most of
  gnome-shell/gdm3/mutter/etc & installed ubuntustudio metapackages &
  the lowlatency kernel.
