FYI: I used an

`asus eepc 1000HE (intel atom n270, 1gb, intel mobile 945gse
integrated), wireless RT2790`

for QA-testing releases up to the 19.04 (disco) cycle when i386 ISOs
were dropped for the last two flavors providing i386. I don't know why
you'd try to install a release so far out of support (though I'm
guessing you had no intention of going online with it).

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Title:
12.04 alternate fails to install GRUB

Status in debian-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
While installing 12.04 (alternate) on an Asus eee900 the installation fails with a message that GRUB could not be written to the MBR.
Tried both manual and guided partitioning to no avail.
Will try the 'normal' package tonight, but this is quite annoying.
