Hi,

I had removed the entries in my sources list as the 'apt update' was
failing on every entry because "there is no release candidate".
Presumably because support for that version had been removed.

So, adding them back in won't fix the issue.

Having said that I did successfully do the upgrade by initiating it from the terminal prompt with
'Do dist-upgrade'

Title:
Dist Upgrade fails because it can't get Kubuntu-desktop

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Which trying to do a dist upgrade from 20.10 it fails right at the
beginning with an error that it can't download kubuntu-desktop.

I tried doing a "sudo apt renistall kubuntu-desktop" before retrying
the upgrade but is fails with "Reinstallation of kubuntu-desktop is
not possible, it cannot be downloaded."

It seems that all of the Groovy packages are no longer valid so it
  can't get anything from them
