Title:
Installer fails on Lenovo ThinkPad X250

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Although I can boot the live version of both Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and
21.10, installation fails on both. As soon as I click "Continue" on
the "Updates and other software" section, the mouse pointer turns into
a progress spinner but nothing seems to happen. When I open a terminal
and run "dmesg", the last thing listed is "Fixing recursive fault but
reboot is needed!". Rebooting and trying again, I get the same issue.
