Description:    Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish (development branch)
Release:        22.04

(Kubuntu install 21.10->22.04 upgrade in QEMU VM)

2) apt-cache policy ubuntu-release-upgrader-core 
ubuntu-release-upgrader-core:
  Installed: 1:22.04.6

3) expected

* Firefox to remain installed, icon on panel and in Application Launcher
menu to be intact.

4) happened instead

* Firefox is uninstalled/not installed
$ apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 97.0.1+build1-0ubuntu1
  
* Firefox icon in panel is replaced with a generic icon
* Firefox is missing from Application Launcher menu
