I tested multiple testcases with the same installation media and a
network connection and the bug disappeared. In the last few
installations, the keyboard layout was recognized correctly as
german/german.

Maybe Canonical has an online database and all my installations today
submitted an entry for my models?

Bug description:
  During the installation of Kubuntu Desktop amd64 (Jammy 22.04.2) on an
  Lenovo ThinkPad X201 and Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 460 with german QWERTZ
  keyboard layout the English/English layout was selected by default.

  Correct was German/German.

  I used the the following build:
  https://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/442/builds

  This is just a minor inconvenience.
