I think that if journald hit an error trying to write to the intended
log target, it will fallback to writing to kmsg, so this might be
intended. Is there anything interesting in journald's own logs?
$ journalctl -u systemd-journald.service -b > journald.log
Also please share your journald.conf:
$ systemd-analyze cat-config systemd/journald.conf

Title:
journald putting rotation messages into dmesg
Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Getting many messages like this in my dmesg:
[207441.489056] systemd-journald[1439]: Data hash table of /run/log/journal/de5de074689f427db9c98ca2ef0070f0/system.journal has a fill level at 75.0 (82165 of 109553 items, 41943040 file size, 510 bytes per hash table item), suggesting rotation.
[207441.489064] systemd-journald[1439]: /run/log/journal/de5de074689f427db9c98ca2ef0070f0/system.journal: Journal header limits reached or header out-of-date, rotating.
I made sure ForwardToKMsg=no is in /etc/systemd/journald.conf.
This is new behavior since updating to lunar... so I think it is a
bug?
