Title:
Entering Unicode characters with code points broken

Status in ibus:
  New
Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
On an updated lunar, following this instruction:

  https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/tips-
  specialchars.html#ctrlshiftu

no longer works. If I press for instance

  Ctrl+Shift+U followed by 2014

I see u2014 (underlined) on the screen. But it's not replaced with the
expected character (in this case an Em Dash) when I confirm with Space
or Enter — it just disappears.
