as this would need to be handled as part of Ubuntu Pro 18.04 (which I
see you've already targeted, thanks!).

Bug description:
  Upstream maintainer Richard Hughes has indicated a desire to drop
  support for fwupwd versions < 1.3 or perhaps < 1.4 in the following
  thread:
