Title:
login screen on two monitors appears on secondary display
Status in shadow package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
This seems to be a bug with the Display Manager (GDM) that handles the
login process. The problem shows up in both Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS and
Rocky Linux 8.10. Windows 11 Pro does not suffer from this. I have
them all installed on the same machine and connected to two monitors.
The bug is that when the login screen appears, the login screen shows
up on the secondary monitor instead of the primary one.
Once logged in into the Ubuntu/Rocky Linux GNOME the settings
configuration is respected.
Also, since I upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS, my boot process is now
slow:
$ sudo systemd-analyze critical-chain
The time when unit became active or started is printed after the "@" character.
The time the unit took to start is printed after the "+" character.
