I'm not seeing any release information in this bug report.

1) Does it refer to a release that is no longer supported?
2) Does the reference to 'flashplugin-installer' also suggest an EOL release?
3) Developers, who can fix issues, need release information.

Is this report still valid (for currently supported releases) and the
packages that they include?

Title:
If "Failure to download extra data files" fails, the error message
  disappears too fast

Status in One Hundred Papercuts:
  Incomplete
Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Often after a software update, you get the dialogue window "Failure to
  download extra data files".

For instance: "The following packages requested additional data
downloads after package installation, but the data could not be
downloaded or could not be processed.

  flashplugin-installer"

The dialogue box has a button "Run this action now".

If you click on it, a terminal window pops up, and runs some commands.

  There are two problems:

  1) If the process fails, the terminal window closes before you get a
chance to read what the problem was, and so it is very hard to find
out what you need to solve.

  2) If the terminal window succeeds succeeds, the dialogue box remains
visible, giving the same message, and so you don't know if the problem
has now been solved or not, and whether to press the "run this action
  now" button again.
