Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This package failure was due to problems with your installation media, and subsequent squashfs errors encountered reading data from it, eg. look in the logs and you'll see messages like these :-
Jan 6 23:43:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 523.035795] SQUASHFS error: zlib decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Jan 6 23:43:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 523.035809] SQUASHFS error: Failed to read block 0x44e06aaa: -5
Jan 6 23:43:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 523.036884] SQUASHFS error: zlib decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Jan 6 23:43:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 523.036891] SQUASHFS error: Failed to read block 0x44e16ffb: -5

Usually this means an invalid ISO, or a bad write to your install media,
usually detected during the ISO validation (prior to write;
https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu#0)
or the CasperMD5CheckResult which actually passed in your case.
Problems can also occur if using a VM with insufficient RAM supplied.

I do note in your report "CasperMD5CheckResult: pass" so its likely your
ISO is valid; but the system still had failures reading the (ISO data
from) install media, thus the USB drive maybe faulty.

A Support site maybe more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
