In my case, the "hot corner" button (in the "multitasking" menu) is
actually working OK. It is the "active screen edges" button that has no
effect (the feature is always enabled regardless of the status of this
button).

  In the Ubuntu settings, in the multitasking, if you disable the Active
  Screen Edges, you can still drag a windows to a corner and still are
  able to resize them to the 4 corner areas.
