Public bug reported:
I want to upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to ubuntu 20.04.
I had first a GPG erroR mentionning that 2 public keys were not
available, so I added them doing this : sudo apt-key adv --keyserver
keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys [KEY]
Then I did :
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt --purge autoremove
sudo apt autoclean
No more GPG errors.
Then I tried again upgrading doing :
do-release-upgrade -p
Now I have this error :
"Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If
you want to investigate this yourself the log files in
'/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade.
Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'. "
I looked at the main.log and it was written that it "failed to remove" python-minimal and libpython-stdlib. Those 2 packages were also marked as "Broken" in the apt.log file. I manually removed them.
I still have the same error when trying to upgrade. When I grep "failed"
in the main.log, I get this :
2024-06-26 10:27:44,944 ERROR Dist-upgrade failed: 'E:Error,
pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held
packages.'
And I have 136 results for "Broken" in the apt.log file, but I dont know
if I sould delete them, I don't want to break something. Below the 5
first results for my grep "Broken" :
Broken dpkg:amd64 Breaks on libapt-pkg5.0:amd64 < 1.6.17 @ii mK > (< 1.7~b)
Broken gnome-settings-daemon-common:amd64 Breaks on gnome-settings-daemon-schemas:amd64 < 3.28.1-0ubuntu1.3 @ii mK > (< 3.30.1.2-2~)
Broken libpcre2-posix2:amd64 Conflicts on libpcre2-posix0:amd64 < 10.31-2 @ii mK >
Broken libldb2:amd64 Breaks on libldb1:amd64 < 2:1.2.3-1ubuntu0.2 @ii mK > (< 2:2~)
Broken libhdf5-103:amd64 Conflicts on libhdf5-100:amd64 < 1.10.0-patch1+docs-4 @ii mK >
