Thanks for the report and for closing it. We have 2.80.2 in Oracular now
and I've checked that the follow-up bugfix has been included in the
security uploads for the other series

Title:
Oracular: Glib 2.80.1 breaks IBus support: unable to type ~`àéè...
  chars

Status in glib2.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Note: a new version is coming: I'm creating this bug report mainly to
  help others identifying the issues.

With Glib 2.80.1, I'm no longer able to type special characters like
  ~`àéè, etc.

The bug has already been fixed upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/issues/3353
It is part of the 2.80.2: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/releases/2.80.2
2.80.2 is in the proposed repo: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0

This bug is particularly annoying if you have such special characters
in your password, it affects all apps using Glib 2.80.1. So the apps
installed from Snap are not affected as they are using an older
  version of Glib.

  Workaround:

    sudo apt install libglib2.0-bin=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
  gir1.2-glib-2.0=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 libglib2.0-data=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
  libglib2.0-0t64=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 gir1.2-glib-2.0-dev=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
  libglib2.0-dev=2.80.0-6ubuntu1 libgirepository-2.0-0=2.80.0-6ubuntu1
  libglib2.0-dev-bin=2.80.0-6ubuntu1

(or install the packages from "proposed")
