Can you provide more details about your system configuration and the
exact boot problem you are running into?

If what you were describing was the case for all installations being
upgraded to Noble, that would obviously be the most catastrophic
regression we hopefully knew about, so I suspect there is something more
subtle going on here.

This specifically is even less likely than ZFS. What conditions cause
your system to break exactly?

  New

Bug description:
  Upgrading grub from 2.06 to any later version may break grub if the filesystem to boot from is not one of ext2,3,4.
  Upgrading grub from 2.06 to any later version will break grub if root is installed on zfs.
  The system remains unbootable. No fix seems to work (reinstalling Grub, etc.)

  This is even for a new install if zfs on root was selected!
  The system will install, but it will not boot right after install.

  The only way to fix this is: install Ubuntu 24.04, then remove grub
  2.12, install grub 2.06 and tools. Afterwards grub will work an the
  system will boot -- regardless of filesystems used for root and boot
  volumes.
