I installed 1:24.04.9 from noble-proposed and clicked on the selection
tick markers to toggle them on and off repeatedly. I had 5-6 updates in
the list, one from a PPA. One was in a group, so I tested both clicking
the group tick marker and the package tick marker. I also clicked
multiple times quickly on the markers, since timing seemed to have a
role in the previous buggy versions. I was not able to make it crash.
With the previous versions it also didn't always crash immediately, but
it would always crash with the amount of clicking I had performed in
this test.

Title:
[SRU] Update-manager crashes when packages are de-selected with the
mouse
Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Status in update-manager source package in Noble:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
Impact
------
Update-manager crashes if packages are deselected with a mouse click.
If the keyboard spacebar is used instead (with focus on the package
name or whole line, not the checkbox) it doesn't crash.
Test case
---------
0. Install the updated update-manager package.
1. Start update-manager.
2. Click various check boxes in the package list (i.e. unselect some packages with the mouse).
Update-manager should not crash.
Regression potential
--------------------
The user interface could become unresponsive.
---------
The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding update-manager. This problem was most recently seen with package version 1:23.10.1, the problem page at https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/dff72cd5c27c916b2d887a56311ba08ef15b0dff contains more details, including versions of packages affected, stacktrace or traceback, and individual crash reports.
