This is what I suspected too but LXD was using the btrfs driver for its
storage, when I checked. Not sure if there is any other ZFS usage by
LXD.

Bug description:
  As someone interested in trying out and testing the Kubuntu 24.10
  beta, I tried to upgrade to it from an up-to-date Kubuntu 24.04
  installation using `sudo do-release-upgrade -d` after editing
  `/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades to set `Prompt=normal`. But the
  upgrader did some initial work and then aborted with an error message
  that says that I cannot upgrade my installation as the 24.10 kernel
  does not support ZFS.

  This is strange because my installation uses a btrfs-on-root full disk
  encrypted setup and there is no ZFS at all. I also suspected that LXD
  might be using a ZFS volume for storage and when I checked, I found
  that it was using a btrfs volume.

  So this looks like a bug in the updater which appears to wrongly flag
  and block the upgrade on my system which does not use ZFS at all.
