Title:
Initrd doesn't have proper compress format
Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
It is very similar to the bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1462788
reported about 3 years ago.
I'm using an up-to-date Xubuntu 18. The system is still bootable. But
I couldn't extract initramfs:
root at Chrom-agent:/tmp# file /boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-22-generic
/boot/initrd.img-4.15.0-22-generic: ASCII cpio archive (SVR4 with no CRC)
After removed /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/intel_microcode and
regenerated initramfs, the initrd could be recognized by compress
utility.
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
initramfs-tools 0.130ubuntu3
