Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I tested dracut in a Ubuntu 24.04 VM with an encrypted
root filesystem, but I cannot reproduce the failure. Are you willing to
debug that issue?
The steps would b
1. Install dracut-core (not "dracut")
2. Backup your current initrd
3. Run: sudo dracut
4. Check the run for errors
5. Reboot
6. If the boot fail, use the backup initrd (or a previous kernel)
To cleanup afterwards, run "sudo update-initramfs -u" and remove dracut-
core.

Title:
Installing dracut on a encrypted hardrive make the sytem not boot
Status in dracut package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Ubuntu 24.04
I have a luks encrypted hard drive.
When I installed I did not know what this was, and it replaced initramfs-tools without warning me.
When I rebooted the system did not boot.
I fixed by booting in to a live usb and chrooting to remove dracut reinstall initramfs-tools and regen the init.
