The message display is asynchronous, if it really is the fix then being
able to wait for it would be good, but it seems such a hack. Even with 2s
it doesn't work all the time.
 I can not understand why this is so hard ... the font really looks like it
is in the initramfs ... I can see it.
shutdown is apparently a twilight zone.

Fully understand that it's a low priority.

  You can see it by pressing Escape instead of Enter.

  It seems somewhat related to the fix for bug 1942987, which only
  preloads non-bold text for the live session shutdown splash.
