This bug effects me.
Raspberry Pi 4b 8G 5.1V 5A power supply. This RPi + power supply has worked for
a long time with raspiOS.

put ubuntu 24.04.2 lts image on sd card with rpi-imager.
add 'nomodeset' to cmdline.txt.
Power on.
after a long time, some activity and desktop setup started.
TZ, keyboard, wifi setup completed.
After some time, a logo semi compass rose ? appeared.
some time later, the screen blanked and became solid blue.
some time later, the screen changed to black.
After 30 minutes, I powered off, wait 30 sec, power on.
The green led blinked several times then was solid on.
A rectangle with retangle with colors appeared.
some time later the screen blanked.
After 10 minutes with no activity,I cycled power again.
The green led blinked several times then was solid on.
A rectangle with retangle with colors appeared.
An orage circle with three dots appeared at the top of the screen.
A microsoft-like activity circle in the middle.
20 years ubuntu at the bottom.
Aftrer 12 min, pressing some keyboard keys and movine the mouse, I
think ctrl-alt-reset caused a power cycle (?) the red led blinked and
the process started again.
The logo, activity, ubuntu screen appeared. the green led flashed briefly
several times at about 10 second intervals.
removed nomodeset from cmdline.txt
power on
red/blue/yellow rectangle
blank screen - green led flashed several times
The logo, activity, ubuntu screen appeared. the green led flashed briefly
after 10 minutes, gave up. put raspi OS on the sd card with rpi-imager.
power on - all OK.

repeated install desktop image on sd card
added 'enable_uart=1' to config.txt
connected serial adapter to rpi and started gtkterm ttyUSB0, 115200
Power on rpi
booted to the logo, activity, ubuntu screen
NO TEXT ON gtkterm.

This same sequence with raspiOS had boot text on gtkterm.

use rpi-imager to put 24.04 lts on new sd card
added 'enable_uart=1' to config.txt
Power on rpi
booted to the logo, activity, ubuntu screen
crown logo
lang, kbd
wifi+pwd
tz
account+pw
configuring ... account, hardware, etc.
crown logo
applying changes ...
screen blanked, boot-like log appeared

Looking at the sd card on another computer, on my system, sdb.
in the root directory of sdb1, I find a core file

Title:
24.04 LTS Installation failed on RPI5

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I had RaspiOS Debian 12 bookworm desktop running on my 8GB Raspberry
Pi 5. I'm attempting to switch to the RPi version of Ubuntu Desktop
24.04 LTS. I've created an install microSD card with raspi-imager and
selected Other OS then Ubuntu Desktop 24.04 LTS.

After picking English, Los Angeles, etc., then I get to the point
where I input details to name the host and create my user account,
click next and get Installation Failed. I click OK, some text flashes
by fast, then get a basic sign-in screen but can't sign in. It won't
accept the username and password I selected, and ubuntu/ubuntu. I
tried a terminal session on tty2 to see if I could check any logs but
  again, no working username/password.

In case it was some sort of download error with raspi-imager, I
  downloaded the "ubuntu-24.04-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz"
file and used Rufus to write that to the install media. The microSDXC
card is a brand new Samsung 256GB Pro Plus A2 V30.

  What do I do now?
