Bug description:
  Describe the bug: 
  deployments of 16.04 fails due to a SyntaxError in curthooks.py

  
  Steps to reproduce: 
  1) install MAAS 3.6.0 alpha
  2) deploy 16.04 on a machine

  
  Expected behavior (what should have happened?):
  the machine is properly deployed

  
  Actual behavior (what actually happened?): 
  the deployment fails

  
  MAAS version and installation type (deb, snap): 
  MAAS 3.6.0 alpha both deb and snap

  
  MAAS setup (HA, single node, multiple regions/racks):
  any

  
  Host OS distro and version:
  Ubuntu 24.04

  
  Additional context:
  curtin package 23.1.1-1112-gcc1c1bdd-0ubuntu1~ubuntu24.04.1
