Rust 1.85 was released on 20 February 2025 and patched on 18 March 2025.
A great deal of packages in the Ubuntu archive rely on up-to-date
versions of Rust in order to be built.

Rust 1.85 comes with some significant additions, most notably the
stabilization of the 2024 Edition.
