Public bug reported:
Currently, there is no way for the user to know the piboot mechanism has
fallen-back to the known good boot assets, beyond querying the new/state
themselves. The motd facility would be an ideal place to report the fact
that boot assets have failed (and to encourage the user to report the
bug if they can isolate the cause?).
