Title:
deb822 source migration does not handle arch specifier

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  SUMMARY

When upgrading from 22.04 to 24.04, the apt sources file google-
chrome.list was converted to google-chrome.sources according to the
  new DEB format.

However, the conversion left out the line "Architectures:amd64", which
  caused problems with "apt update".

There is the possibility that this could affect other conversions,
  depending on the user's setup.

  DETAILS

The original google-chrome.list before the upgrade looked like this
  (excluding comments):

  deb [arch=amd64] https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main

The new google-chrome.sources after the upgrade looked like this:

  Enabled: no
  Types: deb
  URIs: https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/
  Suites: stable
  Components: main
  Signed-By:
  [PGP block removed for brevity]

I changed "Enabled: no" to "Enabled: yes". Then, "apt update" gave the
  following error:

N: Skipping acquisition of configured file
  'main/binary-i386/Packages', as repository
  https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable InRelease' doesn't
  support architecture 'i386'

Adding "Architectures: amd64" to the file solved this problem.

This should have been done by default.
