History:
I attempted to install Ubuntu 24.04 on this machine and failed.
The initial Ubuntu installation on this machine was 20.04 in May, 2021.
It was upgraded to 22.04 with do-release-upgrade in May of 2023.
What I did:
I used a known good USB card in the attempt to install 24.04.
On this machine, running Ubuntu 22.04, I tried two times with two
different USB cards to install Ubuntu 24.04. The first was created using
dd. The second was created using rufus on windows 11.
I had earlier used one of these cards to install Ubuntu 25.04 on a spare
SSD. So that SD card was known to be good. I am not running 25.04.
In both of my attempts to install Ubuntu 24.04, the same thing happened:
After boot, the splash screen was displayed with the 'Microsoft'
wheelie. The LED on the USB device blinks, indicating access.
After a few seconds, the screen goes black and the LED continues to
blink for ~20 seconds or so and then stops.
for the next 20 minutes, no activity. Can not ping the machine.
On this machine, running Ubuntu 22.04, I tried to report a bug against
'ubuntu-desktop-provision' but apport-bug complained I was attempting to
report about a package that was not installed.
> apport-bug ubuntu-desktop-provision
dpkg-query: no packages found matching ubuntu-desktop-provision
From my end, the only report I can make is this one, against
'installer'
I can not install Ubuntu 24.04.
