I've removed the broken update from noble-updates:

Comment: Updated package fails to work at all; rebuilding a fix is not trivial; LP: #2097317
Remove [y|N]? y
1 package successfully removed.

This will prevent new people hitting the problem, but a proper fix still
needs to done to fix systems which already have the broken update
installed.
