Bug description:
  Sorry for my englisch!

  When I make a installation with the DVD-Version of Ubuntu 9.04 i386
  (aka Jaunty) and I use the manuall installation way with a seperat
  /tmp directory. The real /tmp directory have not the access permission
  1777 aka drwxrwxrwt.

  When I delete the entry in the fstab "UUID=xxx-xxx... /tmp ...." I can
  not login.

  The /tmp have only the access permission drwxr-xr-x.

  I think the better way is that the /tmp directory (creating during the
  installation process) have always the access permission 1777 aka
  drwxrwxrwt.

  What I mean in my foreigen language german:

  Wunsch:

  Wenn bei der Installation die manuelle Partitionierung der Festplatte
  gewählt wird und eine extra Partition für /tmp gewählt wird hat das
  /tmp Verzeichnis auf root (das als Einhängepunkt dient) nicht die
  Zugriffsrechte 1777 (drwxrwxrwt) sondern nur drwxr-xr-x.

  Es wäre besser wenn /tmp während des Installation mit den
  Zugriffsrechten 1777 (drwxrwxrwt) erstellt werden würde, unabhängig
  davon ob eine extra Partition für /tmp gewählt wurde oder nicht.

  Entscheidet man sich später dafür keine extra Partition für /tmp zu
  benutzen. Löscht also den entsprechenden Eintrag aus der /etc/fstab
  kann man sich sonst nach dem Neustart nicht mehr in die grafische
  Benutzeroberfläche GNOME einloggen.

  Man muss erst die Zugriffsrechte von /tmp manuell ändern. Das würde
  entfallen wenn gleich die "richtigen" Zugriffrechte für /tmp vergeben
  werden würden.
