Title:
'Download updates while installing Ubuntu' install option doesn't work
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
I have installed Ubuntu 17.10 (amd64) several times now and I have
noticed it retains an issue that has been present in the Ubuntu
installer (I forget its name) for several years, if not since the
inception of the current installer so my apologies for only just
reporting this.
If you install Ubuntu on a computer that has an active ethernet
internet connection and you choose the 'Download updates while
installing Ubuntu' option, this doesn't happen. Instead, the Ubuntu
software updater usually finds several packages that require updating
upon first boot which means choosing 'Download updates while
installing Ubuntu' doesn't work.
If this can't be made to work so that no further updates are required
on first boot then this option should be removed from the 18.04
installer because it doesn't do what it claims.
