Title:
superfluous unmount prompts before installation, especially with grub
isoboot
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
[edit: Observed with Ubuntu 16.04.1 and .2 desktop amd64 ISOs]
1. When using grub isoboot and the iso-scan boot parameter, the
partition containing the ISO file is mounted at /isodevice and then
/isodevice/.../ubuntu-whatever.iso is loopback-mounted at /cdrom.
However, the graphical installer asks if the user wants to unmount it
before starting the partitioner. If "no" is selected, the installation
proceeds with no problem. I'm not sure what would happen if "yes," but
presumably nothing good. We should recognize that /isodevice is a
special/required mountpoint and not ask about it...
2. I'm also prompted to unmount some random SD card that happened to
be in my laptop (/dev/mmcblk0). It's irrelevant to the installation,
so I don't think it matters whether I answer yes or no. Something
mounted this automatically in the first place though; is there any
good reason for that?
Also, if #2 occurs, it is presented in the same dialog as #1. So there
is no way to keep the required /isodevice filesystem *and* unmount the
unrelated one (except at the command line).
