Title:
18.04 installation with internet access results in GRUB minimal BASH-
like interface with no boot entries

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
After installing Ubuntu 18.04, while the destination PC has internet
access, the installation results in an unbootable state where you
cannot get passed the GRUB minimal BASH-like interface. This occurs
whether a "normal" or "minimal" install is selected, "download
updates" or not, and "third party packages" or not. However, if all
internet access is removed (no WiFi or ethernet) then the installer
works, and I an boot into Ubuntu. I suspect that the installer
downloads updates for Ubiquity or GRUB if possible, but I am not for
sure. There are a number of people reporting this issue since
  yesterday as well.
