Bug description:
  I'm not an expert, so keep this in mind while reading this bug report.

  Bug experienced on 2015 MacBook Pro 13".

  I distro hop a lot and I noticed a difference when installing Fedora
  or Ubuntu. In both installers (Fedora uses Anaconda) you can specify
  where you install the boot loader but only in Fedora the installer
  works as expected.

  I want to install Ubuntu 20.04 on a external SSD (connected through
  USB), while installing I make the partitions on the external drive
  (sdc) and choose to install the boot loader on the same device (sdc).
  I expect it not to alter anything on sda (where the Mac boot loader
  is). After installing and rebooting GRUB loads (from sda) and fails
  because it didn't find a device. So I suspect there is something wrong
  here because in the installer I marked it to install the boot loader
  on sdc.

  In Fedora (if anyone wants to compare), the original boot loader of
  the Mac isn't touched or altered and the Mac keeps booting macOS and
  only boots to Fedora when holding the alt-key.
