Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Ubuntu 21.10 (impish) reached end-of-life on July 14, 2022.

The Ubiquity installer is now unmaintained as it has been replaced by
either the 'Ubuntu Desktop Installer' or 'Calamares' starting with the
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS release. So this bug report is being closed as
'Invalid' as the reported issue will not be fixed.

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  if var is full install will hang

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  If the var partition is only 2GB the install will hang close to the
  end when downloading packages. I have confirmed this bug is not
  present in ubuntu 20.04 but is present in 21.10 so either 20.04 uses
  less space or has the logic to download step by step during install.
