Hey Dan, build "edge/lp-2101831-v2" is a good one!
I still used the ISO from March 12th (first of all, since I had to update the installer manual anyway).
a)
First good news is that after executing:
snap refresh subiquity --channel=latest/edge/lp-2101831-v2 --ignore-running
the installer restarted as it should be (last time the snap was updated, but the restart did not work automatically, I needed to restart manually).
b)
Using a slightly more complex disk setup by intention (LPAR with 2 DASDs in LVM, with a separate /boot folder on one of them) I could completed the installation (like also before), but this time the system came up properly after the post-install reboot! (great)
I've upgraded all the packages that were available in -updates (not
kernel) and rebooted again - and system was still rebooting fine (just
to be sure ;-)
Will do some more tests on LPAR with FCP/SCSI as well as on z/VM.
But this already looks good - thank you!

Title:
25.04 installation does not come up after post-install reboot on s390x
Status in Ubuntu on IBM z Systems:
New
Status in subiquity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
While using the plucky daily image from March 9th and performing a test installation, I've noticed that the installation does not come up after the post-install reboot was triggered ('Reboot' button).
The system goes down, but is then not able to come up again.
In z/VM I get the message:
"HCPVMI232E IPL UNIT ERROR; IRB 00404017 00000010 00200000 00800000"
points to an issue during IPL (boot).
There are some lines in the curtin-install.log that make me wonder if the zipl boot loader was not written:
"
installer/curtin-install.log-Running command ['unshare', '--fork', '--pid', '--mount-proc=/target/proc', '--', 'chroot', '/target', 'update-initramfs', '-c', '-k', '6.12.0-16-generic'] with allowed return codes [0] (capture=False)
installer/curtin-install.log-update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-6.12.0-16-generic
installer/curtin-install.log:Not invoking zipl: initrd doesn't exist yet
installer/curtin-install.log-Running command ['udevadm', 'settle'] with allowed return codes [0] (capture=False)
"
Below I've attached the entire logs ...
(Btw. the error msg is similar to LP1723541, but this seems to be
unrelated, but will do some more tests.)
