You need to actually `apt remove` the specific python packages installed
from the deadsnakes PPA. It's not enough to remove the sources.list
files.

  Ubuntu Upgrade Fails

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I tried to do `sudo do-release-upgrade`, but it fails everytime. I
  already removed every custom repo and cleaned up
  /etc/apt/sources.list.d/, I upgraded all packages and restarted the
  PC. Nevertheless, the error always occurs.

  The file that couldn't be read is just am empty file:
