Title:
  Upgrade to Quokka removes X.org packages with MATE on Steam Deck

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  1) Ubuntu Version: MATE 25.04 -> 25.10
  2) N/A?
  3) What was expected: a smooth upgrade.

  4) When upgrading to Quokka with MATE Desktop Environment from 25.04
  on a Steam Deck, all the packages referring to X11 are removed during
  the process.

  As a result, this breaks lightdm, and only console sessions are
  possible.

  Also, xinput is also removed, so I had a script reconfiguring the
  touchscreen that broke.

  The workarounds:
  sudo apt install lightdm
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
  sudo shutdown -r now

  This does NOT happen with devices whose GPU is NVidia-branded.
