Title:
  md5sum giving different results from previous versions of Ubuntu

Status in coreutils-from package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Installed quokka into virtual machine of Virtualbox on host Numbat.

  Inserted guest-additions via virtualbox taskbar.

  Ran "sudo ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run"

  Gives result :-

  "Verifying archive integrity...  100%  Error in MD5 checksums:
  c8ea742682d7024e581f916c763818c9 is different from
  201ccc47587bb1c28745279e8b7fdd30"

  Doing the above on Numbat and Puffin clients ( all fully updated )
  works perfectly.

  Tracing the program with "sudo bash -xv ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run"
  shows all other program steps work.

  The other possibility is that the program "/usr/bin/dd" may give
  different results.

  The command "md5sum VBoxLinuxAdditions.run" across all client VM
  platforms give identical results,

  implies that /usr/bin/dd may be actually at fault.
