  grub-install failed when installing lubuntu-questing

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Trying to install lubuntu 20250820 on Acer TravelMate 4740 (bios) with
  fairly new SSD drive. Message shows

  Bootloader installation error

  installation command <pre>grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck
  --force /dev/sda</pre> returned error code 127.

  I can't find anything in logs. There are no crash reports.

  
  Everything else proceeded normally until this point.
