I experimented with the Ubuntu 26.04 Snapshot 3 and there's significant compatibility improvements.
Source: https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/26.04/snapshot-3/
1. The Snap Store no longer crashes on startup and finally works.
2. Audio works out of the box now, including microphone.(but has issues I'll explain later)
3. Docking station works, but my dock supports 2 external monitors - Ubuntu shows them as a single monitor.
4. Firefox reports hardware accelerated video decode support for H264, VP9, and HEVC.
5. Bluetooth works, but haven't thoroughly tested it beyond a minute of audio from a headset.
I did not need *any* firmware from my Windows partition to set up this
laptop.
Remaining issues:
1. Sound - The two woofers and two tweeters are reported as 4 speaker surround sound. As a result stereo audio only plays out of the woofers which makes the sound significantly less clear. This sounds identical to applying the steps in comment #270. With some luck, I can create a wireplumber profile to make stereo audio come out of both sets of speakers, but with the tweeters being more sensitive I am worried about damaging them. Part of me wonders if Asahi Linux's speakersafetyd would make sense on laptops like these. I am not a programmer so I cannot answer that.
2. Webcam is still nonfunctional.
3. Standby is likely still not working fully - I have only experimented with it today so I cannot yet determine how fast battery drains.
