This bug was filed on an older device (legacy BIOS; ~2007 HP Compaq
though upgraded many times since initial purchase).

I then tried on another device (uEFI; wifi only) and could NOT connect
to wifi..

Both installs worked; and I was accessing internet fine post-install on
both boxes; in fact on the wifi-uEFI box where I was unable to connect
to wifi using GUI tools (only), those credentials allowed me to install
perfectly post-install having been saved in the live session where they
failed to operate.

This bug was initially reported at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntumate-26-04-live-iso-try-and-install-no-network-functionality/74775
by Eric Marceau

experienced issues on
- sony vaio ultrabook svp11216cgb (i5-4200u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT)
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 8gb, amd/ati rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)

Title:
ubuntu mate resolute installer (ubuntu-desktop-installer) claims no
  internet

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This bug was filed against installer, but apport has filed against
  ubiquity (hard coded?)

At jumping to terminal, I can ping 8.8.8.8 so internet is connected.
If I ping using DNS (eg. ping my ISP; iinet.net.au) I get name resolution errors.

So as to get file this bug report, I `sudo vi /etc/resolv.conf` and
added `nameserver 8.8.8.8` to the top of that file, so internet/DNS
  was usable.

The applet on the top window of MATE screen still indicates that
networking is 'disabled', and whilst it gives me an option to 'enable
  networking' it does nothing.

The installer will be having an issue due to something else I bet
  (networking related) sorry.
