My apologies for the long delay in getting back to this.

If the bootloader is now up to date, then something else is preventing
the test boot from completing successfully. It is likely worth
interrogating "journalctl" or "less /var/log/syslog" to see what occurs
immediately prior to the latest reboot. That *may* indicate why the boot
to the new kernel / initrd is failing.

If it's not immediately obvious, and this is still an issue, could you
attach the output of "journalctl --boot -1" ?
