You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Twice, I have updated my installation (sudo apt upgrade), and following the upgrade two of the monitors attached to my graphics card have stopped working, leaving me with one working monitor. On both occasions, the Nvidia drivers have been kept back.
On both occasions, I have resolved the issue by forcing an upgrade of the packages which have been kept back (sudo apt full-upgrade).
Is there a way to avoid the nvidia drivers from being kept back for the users who rely on them? I only report this as I think it may confuse some users.
