You are correct. It turns out there were some simultaneous changes in
an unrelated branch where a global variable was defined in a test
module and then used elsewhere. The changes in my branches were
unrelated but things broke after merging trunk. I'll talk to the code
author to make the necessary changes to get things happy again.
